There are more cool Android phones coming to 2011 holiday season. AT&T already has 5 new Android phones lined up to be released as early this month. One of the high-end smartphone many of us have been waiting for is the Atrix 2. The original Motorola Atrix is currently one of top sellers. Combined powerful 1 GHz dual core processor and 4G speeds, the new AT&T Atrix 2 is not your ordinary smartphone – record 1080p HD videos and display them on any HD monitor with an HDMI cable. Talk about versatility, you can even use the optional HD Station and browse the web on any size HD Monitor.

Samsung Captivate Glide is another one coming to stores soon. This decently speed Android smartphone has 4 inch Super AMOLED display, Android 2.3, a 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU. And it’s capable of running on 21Mbps HSPA+. Available for $99 without rebate on October 16. This might the best and cheapest smartphone with full QWERTY keyboard for this holiday shopping season.

Other interesting devices include Samsung DoubleTime – a clamshell QWERTY device with two capacitive touch screens; Pantech Pocket, which offers a candybar Android 2.3 experience with a unique aspect ratio; AT&T Avail – only available through pre-paid plans. This device features a 3.5-inch touch screen, 5- megapixel camera and runs on Android 2.3 OS.

Despite some glitches AT&T Sold 200,000 iPhone 4S in the first 12 hours of preordering. While many Apple fans are still complaining about the lack of design change/improvement on the new iPhone 4S people are still flooding to Apple online store or carriers’ sites to scoop up the latest offering from Apple. The last year’s recording of 600,000 iPhone 4 was certainly set to broken. Carriers have sold out the iPhone 4S online at this point. But you can still find all models available at Apple store online. The estimated ship time now has been extended to 1 to 2 weeks. Same thing happened to iPad 2 preorder. If you are a few hours late to the preorder you might have to wait a week or 2 longer. Next time just be prepared – set your alarm at 12:01am Pacific Time! I wonder how many of you would be willing to preorder before they even had revealed the product. I know I would.

Should you get AT&T Global Messaging Plans when traveling abroad? Now you have 2 more choices when it comes to International texting. The AT&T Global Messaging plans are adding Global Messaging 200 for $30/month and Global Messaging 500 for $50 a month. If you are only taking a short trip oversea you can still buy the 50 SMS/MMS messages for $10. Although we wish there are cheaper options these are much better than paying $.50 per regular message $1.30 per multimedia message without the plan. If you go over the package limit each additional text message will only cost you $.15. I know many of you can burn through 200 in just a few days or even hours it’s still a better option while other carriers offer texting rate from $0.25 to $.50. You should get the Global Messaging plan from AT&T if you think you will send or receive more than just a few messages. The best deal option is 200 texts for $30 unless you are pretty sure you will go over that limit.

AT&T will start offering a new GoPhone plan on Sept. 18 for prepaid customers. You will also get the option of an international long distance package. The national GoPhone plan will cost $25 a month and include 240 nationwide voice minutes and unlimited, nationwide messaging. Sounds like a good deal to me since the unlimited texting itself costs $20. Basically you are buying 240 minutes for just $5. It comes down to just over 2 pennies a minute. If you want the international feature it will cost you $10 and include 250 minutes to over 50 countries for 30 days. Not a bad deal at all. The new AT&T GoPhone plans actually offer more bang for your buck. Although you can still find some goodies like HTC Freestyle is there are limited phone selections and definitely no iPhone prepaid plan. What if prepaid customers want unlimited everything? The existing unlimited prepaid is still available at this time and costs only $50. Please note that smartphone users are required to get a data package – $5 for 10 MB, $15 for 100 MB, $25 for 500 MB. Is the new AT&T prepaid plan better? We will find out soon.

AT&T again will remove tired messaging plans. The 1000 text messages for $10 per month will no long be available after August 21. That’s a bit of disappointment for casual texters on an individual plan. They already removed the 200 messages for $5 plan a while back. And now everyone is forced to sign for the unlimited plan, even though you don’t text often. You can still choose the pay per message. But that’s going to cost you 20 cents each or 30 cents for MMS. 100 texts will run you $20 already. Unless you absolutely sure you won’t go over 100 messages a month you should join the unlimited text plan. For those who own 2 or more lines you are better off signing up the $30 unlimited family text plan. All you pay is $30 even you have 5 lines in the account. That’s a very cheap cheap texting plan there. Average only $6 per line. Existing customers, do you need to switch to the new plan? Nope. You can keep whatever plan you are already using, even if you decide to upgrade to a new phone later on.

It’s time to upgrade to Blackberry Torch. The new Blackberry Torch 9810 for AT&T will go on sale on August 21st for just $49.99 with a new contract. If you are a fan of touchscreen Blackberry smartphone, this new slide-out keyboard is something you can’t miss. The first generation of Torch 9800 was big hit and it was running out of stock for a short period of time after initial release. So what have improved on the newer model? First the processor power is twice as fast. Second, it’s using the new Blackberry OS 7. Third, the new 3.2 inch touchscreen with 480 x 640 pixel resolution are 4 times sharper than the original Torch. Although the new web browser still doesn’t support Adobe Flash, it’s 40% faster than before and supports HTML5 without a problem. Overall user experience such text messaging, emails, app loading, and streaming movies are very much improved. Where can you buy this device? You will find Blackberry Torch 9810 for sale at local AT&T stores. However, we strongly recommending getting it from an authorized online deal if you would like to like to have it free out of pocket

Are data plans worth it? Although not every carrier requires you to sign a data plan when buying a new phone at subsidized price you may want to consider getting a data feature to make the most out of the new phone, especially smartphones. One major concern for consumers is the price – they not exactly cheap as many carriers opt for tiered plans and Sprint’s new data plan had a price hike at the beginning of 2011. AT&T and Verizon Wireless now provided popular 2GB data plan for $25 and $30 a month respectively. Not quite as generous as unlimited data they used to offer for $30 a month. Still, many people need to access Internet, emails, and popular social networking sites to stay connected with friends, family, and colleagues. If you pay by per mb it cost you a fortune just to check a few emails and web sites every day. So it is worth getting a data plan, at least at the lowest tier. You can adjust the tiers every month based on your usage habit. Inside every carrier’s user account page you will find daily and monthly usage to help you learn which plan best fit for your lifestyle.

Tired of looking for free Wi-Fi? Even wonder if you should get a personal Mobile Hotspot? If you happened to get Verizon Mobile Hotspot extended, you should already have enough time to find out whether the service will be worth paying for. Although many hotels, restaurant, and cafe offer free Wi-Fi service for the general public, you will still find having a personal Mobile Hotspot much more convenient way to stay connected. You can access work and personal emails and surf the Internet while in a train or a bus. There are few public transportation offer you free Wi-Fi access. And if they do you will be charged a small fortune to have that privilege. You can save much money by purchasing a personal MiFi or add Mobile Hotspot on top of you smartphone data plan. Either way, you can connect up to 8 Wi-Fi devices at the same time for one flat month fee. MiFi hotspot plans are similar to mobile broadband plans (start at $59.99 a month). The only major difference is you will get multiple connections at the same time. It’s a much better value than using those USB wireless modem. What if you already have a 3G or 4G smartphone? That’s even better – you don’t need to carry a phone and a MiFi modem. Since you already pay for the smartphone data plan, the add-on Mobile Hotspot feature will only cost you additional $20 to $30 a month. Perhaps one big advantage is that you can remove or add back this feature as often as you like on a monthly basis. Since there is no long term commitment you should try the personal Mobile Hotspot with a capable smartphone.
