In case you haven’t used the Samsung Gravity lines before, they are basically a full-featured message phones with a full QWERTY keyboard. This time it’s different. The new Samsung Gravity Smart now comes with Android OS 2.2 “Froyo”. With a faster processor, a full touchscreen, and an easy slide-out keyboard, you can fire up text messages, surf the Internet, and play thousands of games downloaded from Android market. Previous generation of Gravity series were lacking some of these important features that every entry-level smartphone users have been looking for. However, some users new to a physical keyboard other than those found in a Blackberry may find a bit awkward to handle. Not that the keys have been designed poorly. All horizontal slide-out keyboards have the same issue – the top row of keys are too close to the edge of the screen, making it a bit more difficult to get to the right keys if you have big thumbs. The low-resolution camera onboard is another drawback. But hey getting the Samsung Gravity Smart for as little as $0 out of pocket with a new contract, you can’t really complain too much. Available in Sapphire Blue and Berry Red from T-Mobile today. Make your choice

For the first time Motorola is making its latest Android smartphone available on prepaid carrier Virgin Mobile. Motorola Triumph will go on sale this summer. You have the flexibility of not being locked in a contract plan (I have to admit that prepaid is better than contract if you are thinking to switch to another carrier soon). The Motorola TRIUMPH has a vibrant 4.1-inch WVGA touchscreen, dual-facing cameras, a super slim design (less than 0.4 inch thick). You can share 720p videos on any HDTV with HDMI input. It’s probably the sexiest Android phone for no contract plan – I don’t see any reason you should move to another prepaid carrier. The screen is big enough but nothing to be excited about when compared to qHD or Super AMOLED PLUS. On the other hand, you will get Virgin Mobile Live, a music social networking app that’s not available anywhere else. Official sale price is still not revealed. I hope it can stay below $300.

Folks, HP Veer goes on sale officially. Don’t rush to local ATT& stores, do some search online and you will be surprised how cheap you can get this new WebOS phone for. Should you rush to upgrade to HP Veer if you already own Palm Pre or Palm Pixi? It depends. As a consumer who considers buying a new smartphone, 3 factors come to play – design, technology, and cost. Although Veer is not a significant leap over the Pixi, it provides a much improved experience for users by losing weight and making it thinner and still retains a physical keyboard. The price found on third party retailers would be as little as $0 without rebates. If you find these 3 things appealing to you then by all means go ahead with the upgrade.

Update: att.com has the Veer for $99.99 and Best Buy selling it for only $0 with a contract of course.

Thanks to the 2.2 million iPhone 4 activated by Verizon Wireless during the first Quarter, the IOS has gain more market share at the expense of Android. According to NPD Group, Google Android smartphone market share has dropped from 53% to 50% in Q1 2011. Overall, IOS devices shot up 9 percent points and account for 28% of total smartphone sales. The worst performer is Blackberry, which sees its market share declined 5% to 14%. Before having the iPhone 4, Verizon Wireless had been focusing on pushing every Android phone possible. From the first Motorola DROID to the latest HTC INCREDIBLE Verizon has been touting advantages over rival AT&T such as broader 3G coverage and less dropped calls. I am sure you came across the DROID DOES promo on TV, print, radio, and all over the web. And now Verizon has focus more on the iPhone 4 promotion and no doubt has taking the attention away from DROID. It will be interesting to see the trend in Q2 as more 4G Android phones coming out in coming months and the iPhone 5 won’t be scheduled to launch until September.

Many of you are wonder if data plan is required for Droid X. The answer is yes. I was speculating that Verizon Wireless would end the unlimited data plan soon after AT&T said they would no longer offer unlimited data for new subscribers. But Verizon has yet to announce the new plan. Well, if you are buying Droid X you have to have unlimited data to enjoy watching YouTube and streaming music/radio. For those of you that haven’t signed up Verizon unlimited data plans now is the best time to do so. Once you are in the plan you will have the option to keep it forever or downgrade to a newer plan (if you do feel that you don’t need that much data) as it becomes available. Good luck.

We already show you steps to save money on cell phone bills. Now let’s get into more details on how to save money by using the same wireless carrier. If you already have an individual plan, that’s ok. Do you know that carrier offer free in-network calls to anyone? Yes, as long as the caller can receiver are using the same carrier, they can call each other 24 hours day, 7 days a week without using any of their plan minutes.

Speak to your family members and friends and whoever you call the most often. Chances are some people are using a different carrier. Persuade them to switch to your carrier? Unless they don’t like their current wireless carrier, good luck on doing that. If you don’t mind signing a new service plan, you can save more money by switching to a popular carrier (we really mean the one that most of your friends are using.) The phone price is really cheap these days. You can get free phones and sometime make some money after rebates. Best of all you can keep the same phone number. Of course, you can only choose one carrier at a time, and whichever you choose you have to stick with them for 2 years. There are more ways to save money. Stay tuned for more posts.
