Does iPad have Better Reception than iPhone

When I have both iPhone 3GS and iPad 3G together, the iPad seems to have better reception than the iPhone, at least by looking at the signal strength bar. While my iPhone has 2 bars, the iPad has full 5 bars up. I couldn’t believe it. They are a 1 foot a part. I switch them off and then turn them on. Still, the iPad has 5 bars. Well, the best way to find out the truth is open a web page, right? So, I used CNN.COM to test both devices. Both iPhone and iPad the loaded the site with no problem. Of course the iPad was a little faster primarily due to the faster processor. Another test that I did was to have iPhone signal bar at 0 while the iPad has 2 bars – this happened when I was in a subway platform. Both iPhone and iPad couldn’t connect to the internet. Does iPad have better reception than iPhone 3GS? Don’t be fooled by the signal bar!
