Is Pay as You Go Better Than Contract

If you don’t want to be locked up with the same wireless carrier for 12 or 24 months you can choose pay as you go option. Is Pay as you go better than contract plan? The biggest advantage of pay as you go phones are there won’t be any suuprises. You pay the minutes in advance and you will never exceed the minutes allowed. There is no long term contract to sign. You don’t need to pay a minimum monthly fee to maintain the plan. If you only use cell phone for emergency purpose, paying a monthly fee of at least $30 plus tax doesn’t make economic sense at all. And everyone qualify for pay as you go plans even if you have bad credit.

But keep mind that you prepaid minutes can expire after a certain period of time. However, some carriers like AT&T lets you carry over used prepaid minutes if you refill before the balance expires. That way you will have more minutes to use when you need them. For those of you who use less than 100 minutes a month, a Pay as you go phone is better than contract phone.
