You are basically paying close to retail price. So, is Verizon prepaid phone cheaper when it comes to cost per call? The very basic prepay calling plan offers you 25 cents per minute. Unless you can keep the conversation very short, 5 minutes a day or 180 minutes a month can run you close to $40. Compare to the $39.99 post-paid plan with 450 anytime minutes plus unlimited nights and weekends offered by Verizon Wireless, the prepaid rate is not good at all.

One major hassle that I find is that you need to have some balance in your account in order to make calls and send text messages. In other words, you can only make use of your phone if you have money left in the account. That can be annoying if you need to make an important call and find yourself have $0 balance. It’s just not worth the hassle! Verizon Prepaid cell phone is not cheaper in any way.
