National Cell Phone Recycling Week 2011

This week is quite special for cell phone gadget lovers who are trying to get rid of wireless phones that are no longer in use. It’s National Cell Phone Recycling Week 2011. Embarrassed to say that I still have the original Treo smartphone from Sprint sitting in its original box after I decided to upgrade to a new Windows Mobile phones. And this year I switched to DROID x from Verizon Wireless so there are 2 old phones sitting somewhere in the basement. Both phones have been are well protected by cases and are still functional today. I always thought I could use them as a backup in case I lose my current phone. But seriously I do lose the DROID x I will definitely get a new HTC Thunderbolt. As Verizon customer, you have many easy ways to recycle your used cell phones. There drop boxes available in stores throughout the United States. The phones collected by Verizon wireless will be refurbished and donate to various non-profit organizations. Since 2001, Verizon HopeLine program has collected more than 8 million phones, properly disposed of 1.7 million no-longer-used wireless phones. That’s quite a good deed. If you don’t have old phone for recycling you can still to do something for the environment today – make sure to sign up for paperless bills online!
