Verizon Wireless has sold 2.2 million iPhones in the first quarter of 2011. Given the fact that Verizon started selling iPhone 4 on February 10, it’s still an impressive number. A lot of people have been waiting for the iPhone to become available on Verizon and no surprise that it’s the best selling smartphone ever at Verizon Wireless. On the other hand AT&T revealed that 3.6 million iPhones were activated on its network in Q1 2011. It’s not a fair comparison since the iPhone 4 has been on AT&T since the launch in July 2010. And Verizon has less than 2 month to sell it. What we are seeing here is the continued trend of smartphone adoption by consumers. More people and opting for a new smartphone when they need to upgrade or switch carriers. Although we won’t see the iPhone 5 until September this year, we have every reason to believe that the newer version will become the best 4G phone ever.
